Your pants aren't
the problem.Physics is.

Something pulls them
down all day. One strap fights back.

Side profile with gravity pulling down and a belt resisting GRAVITY BELT

The one place pants stay put
is a place no man will wear them.

Where a waistband holds versus where it slides widest HIGH the natural waist. it holds here. LOW where you wear it.
Below the belly, there's nothing to hold it. So it slides.
Pants sat at the natural waist until the 1960s. By the late 1990s the high rise was dead. The waistband moved down to the hips and never came back.

Nothing to rest on.
So you tighten. Click by click.

Modern ratchet belts let you over-tighten by degrees, straight into your hips.
A tight belt on the hip can pinch the nerve that runs down your thigh. Doctors call it meralgia paresthetica.

Eighty years ago,
we stopped improving.

The history of holding your pants up
1200 BCE
The oldest known trousers. Built by horsemen to ride and fight. Engineered for the body from day one.
1820
Braces arrive. The shoulders carry the load. They will for the next hundred years.
1873
Riveted work pants are patented. Jeans are born. Held up by a back cinch and suspender buttons. No belt.
1922
Belt loops appear for the first time.
1938
60% of men have switched from suspenders to belts. Not for comfort. For fashion and uniform.
1942
Wartime rationing strips the back cinch and the last buttons. The belt has won.
1960s
The waist starts to drop. Pants slide toward the hips for the first time.
1990s
The high rise is dead. The waistband lives on the hips now. It never comes back.
Today
The waistband sits low on the hips now, below the belly, where there is nothing to hold it. That isn't innovation. That's surrender.

Three ways out. All bad.

Man in oversized pants
Size up
swim in them
Man with belt cinched tight
Cinch tighter
it hurts
Man hiking his pants up
Hike them up
all day, forever

A horizontal squeeze can't
win a vertical fight. Not without crushing you.

And it gets worse when you sit.

So we moved the weight
to where the body carries it.

A load line from the waist up the side seam to the shoulder LOAD UP
Hidden in the shirt. The way a backpack works. The way braces did.
Belts are broken.We buried them.
